A different perspective on India Gate, Rajpath, New Delhi - All India War Memorial commemorating 90000 soldiers who laid down their lives during World War I.
Usual pictures of this majestic monument include the whole of it; but I wanted to get closer and highlight the inscriptions, the crowning dome and the other more intricate details; hence the close up of the upper section. Inscribed near the top are the words (you can see if you look closely):
"To the dead of the Indian armies who fell honoured in France and Flanders Mesopotamia and Persia East Africa Gallipoli and elsewhere in the near and the far-east and in sacred memory also of those whose names are recorded and who fell in India or the north-west frontier and during the Third Afghan War."
The larger version is here.
